Why you shouldn't play League of Legends!

Hello everyone,

Today we're going to consider the reasons why not to play league of legends.

To begin, we should consider what League of Legends is. League of Legends is a game where you control a champion who has 5 unique skills which differentiate that champion from the others. In addition to this, items are included, and different locations on the map add to the array of possibilities.

In order to master League of Legends, one must understand the skills and abilities of each of the many champions within the game. Not only this, but the individual should be aware of the length of time on the cool downs of each champion. With this knowledge, the player is more able to accurately predict outcomes, and make effective decisions to lead the team to victory.

From this information, we can imagine that League of Legends is a game that introduces players into a controlled environment where players must accurately anticipate the actions of others in order to be successful. In this way, the individual player is making an educated decision based off his or her experience.

Due to this high requirement of knowledge, to achieve an extremely high rank isn't just talent. It's time. When we consider the amount of time required for an individual to acquire the skills needed for Challenger rank, and then we consider the benefit the individual has reaped from this time, we find literally a gimped Human Being.

We find a Human who instead of acquiring a skill which can be applied in real life, and will raise the individual's ability to create value for his or herself, and instead replace those skills with skills only appliable to a game.

League of Legends will also put you in a bad mood. The reason for this is the ELO rating system. This system works in a way that attempts to make sure you win 50% of the time. In addition to this, with 5 players on a team, each individual, in theory, has a 20% effect on their team's chance of success. At elo's where skill isn't as evenly distributed, it is possible for a player to get fed, and carry the entire team, but as the player gets closer to his or her true ELO, they will find that out of those 50% losses, their 20% contribution is often not enough to make up for the bad luck of having a player who feeds the enemy or throws.

It is true that this system is fair in tersm of ELO, but what is obsurd is the idea that if we assume a player's ELO to be correct, on average, he or she will only contribtue 20% to each match they participate in. What this means when we consider 50% loss, and 20 min to 1 hour spent on each math, we see that the individual has a small percentage chance to effect change on the game, and this results in a very large time sink.

Naturally, when we consider so much time spent on a game, and then we realize how little we are able to contribute to the outcome, we might find ourselves annoyed that an hour of life was wasted becsaue Teemo fed. When we add to this the restrictions on leaving the game until it's over, and the very negative attitude players tend to adopt when facing a loss, it's not difficult to see how often something considered fun, can become a burden.

  1. League of Legends doesn't use the elo system anymore.

    1. Still there is something that keeps matching me (level 27) to silver and sometimes platinum players. It's sad to make them lose or play against them.

  2. You actually win 50% of the time, they have feeders just as often as you do. Exactly as often, in fact. I have found it very worthwhile, and you have to realize that as an individual you might be powerless, so does everyone else on your team and you have to work together to win. You aren't perfect and sometimes you end up feeding, even though it might no feel like it's your fault. You have to accept this in order to enjoy the game fully.

    1. Right. No one player has the opportunity to turn the tables. On the other hand, out of 4 players on your team whom you have no control over, it only takes 1 to throw the entire game, and there is nothing you can do about it. In fact, not only is there nothing you can do about it, but if you leave.. you get a penalized.

    2. No, you can still win a game even if someone feeds. You could all gang up of that person, or go all mid.
